It's International Worker's Day!

In 1889 an international federation of socialist groups and trade unions chose May Day to commemorate the Haymarket Square Massacre in Chicago. 5 years later Pres Cleveland established Labor Day to distance the holiday from socialism and unions.

I want to be able to talk about what’s happening in Gaza with nuance and compassion but I’m not sure that’s possible. It makes me sad.

I just realized that Wikipedia is a giant cooperative project done with mostly volunteer labor. And it is a real feat of humanity that we have the unstoppable urge to collect our knowledge and preserve it. Beautiful, really.

I went to a trivia event tonight but it was kahoots and that’s bullshit so I left and went elsewhere to play pub trivia. We got 3rd place. I’m a trivia nerd.

I want to buy some disability shirts and there are a lot of shops on Etsy that just have 100s and 100s of shirts, so I feel like they have to be content farms. But I have no idea how to figure out who is a real human maker to find a good and ethical shirt. I hate it here.

1. So what about that Ben Franklin quote that Trump's lawyer, John Sauer, read to the Supreme Court during the Supreme Court case on presidential immunity? Was it accurate? The words are fine, but Sauer's interpretation was deliberately misleading. Franklin would be horrified.

I still don't understand how bombing the shit out of a place you believe your hostages are helps keep them alive. Like this is the argument people keep making, that it's about the hostages, but isn't that what subterfuge and intelligence is for? Brute force seems like a bad plan.
