This doesn't even need any explanation!

Today I scrubbed for a minimally invasive oesophagectomy for the first time. Since doing staging laps at the start of my training it’s something I’ve always wanted to be involved in. I love the excitement of learning something new. Makes the stress of moving depts worth while!

Working this weekend so today was my day off, full of food prep which included some rather yummy cookies for work tomorrow 🐣❤️

I don’t understand how they can offer this to us when other professions (fire brigade as an example) have been given 9%. The system is crumbling around us as we speak 🙃

I'm an AHP. I'm an Operating Department Practitioner who in theatre does EXACTLY the same job as a Theatre Nurse. Why should my pay be less? 3 year degree. HCPC registration fee. We should be standing together not creating separate pay.

Attended the One Lung study day today!! Very informative and fun day, nice to do some sim alongside the anaesthetic trainees too #teamanaesthesia 😷 🫁

Last night shift tonight, then just 8 day shifts to get through before 2 whole weeks off. Miami + the Caribbean here I come ✈️ 🏝️

Time for 2 weeks off with Alister - we have waited all summer for this break 🥰 tomorrow we fly to Miami for a few days then off on a cruise with my family ✈️ 🏝️

Thanks to all who sent supportive responses to my previous post - I think it’s nice to know others have felt the same & I know I need to be kinder to myself. Moving 150 miles & changing jobs at the same time isn’t easy, and need to remind myself it’s normal to have bad days!

On a really exciting study day today, Manchester Trauma cadaver upper limb day. It is invaluable learning seeing all the key parts of anatomy for shoulder and elbow surgery so close up! 🦴 😷

A very busy week at work! Sorting out our upper limb trays, having a test run with our new manikin set up and visiting our new theatres which are due to open in a few months time! I haven’t been active on this app for ages but trying to get back to it!
