An undercurrent of the #AAM2023 is the dissolution of the professional network volunteer groups, under the guise of accessibility and equity. Transparent chats need to take place as to what is the value proposition of AAM to its individual members. Let’s start the convo here.

At opening session and showing up with curiosity. Will Laura Lott and AAM publicly announce what they have told the PN leadership in private? If not, here it is. As of June 1st, the 24 professional networks of AAM will be disbanded. #aam2023

I am loving the introduction of Greg Deal and how he proudly claims to be an artist, activist, disrupter, and father. There is space within American Alliance of Museums for disrupters. We challenge the status quo. We dream big on what museums could be. And then taking action. #AAM2023

Great advice from the Leadership Lab How to Fix the Problem with Promoting: - ask your institution for specific support (PD, coaching, conference attendance, mentoring) - 80/20 rule: do your work 80% of the time & talk about it 20% of the time - 360 review #AAM2023

Unpaid internships are preying on people’s passion and upholding the privilege of wealth. Museums need to see the business case that paid internships provide pipelines into the museum workforce. We can no longer work for free in hopes it makes our resumes look better.
