I am stunned and angry at the senseless loss of 3 heroes in Burnsville, and my heart breaks especially hard for John Marshall graduate Adam Finseth, who lived a life of service as a paramedic, firefighter, and soldier in the U.S. Army. My prayers are with their families tonight.

A1 - I am seeing Ss that need to feel a sense of "belonging" more than ever. Mental wellness is something we are focusing on for both students and staff. The community of a classroom needs to be a safe and supportive space. #LearnLap

I am seeing more tech skills, but also more, "I can figure it out on my own" skills. I continue to push this positive in what I hope is a student-centered classroom. #LearnLap

A3 - Keeping expectations high and/or even raising expectations is the correct response to some of the struggles we see in our schools today. If we are asking less, then we are confirming to Ss that they are capable of less. #LearnLap

A4 - I used to hold "Family Meetings" in the classroom once a week before Covid...a chance to check in as a class, address concerns, do something community building together, etc. Those meetings now take place 3-4 times per week. #LearnLap
