Class where some people were "notorious" for sleeping and reading in the common rooms. Well deserved abeg. If you knew what these people put in to achieve their grades, you would not argue otherwise. Not even just first class.

This is weird because as an insider, seeing my classmates work hard for this raised my hope a bit for excellence in this country. First, there’s the point that UI’s admission process optimizes for quality students.

My classmates have consistently proven themselves across board. Check BOSAN, WIPO, NHEF, FOPA, University of Geneva, Google developer, current employers of said students, organizations they’ve led, and so many more. (We’ll see you in 2 years after Law school).

Also, environment and exposure matters. At first, all I wanted was a first class then I saw my classmates doing 4.0 sessions and that made it look within reach. Iron sharpens iron. I genuinely hope our lovely Dean does not dignify you people with a response.

By all means, express your shock at the news but don’t play down the work we put in. Many more deserved it if one or two electives didn’t mess up their results and I’m rooting for every one of them even beyond law school.
