Agorist Yes! + in the USSR’s parallel economy they also did not use fiat money (rubles) for transactions. Many research papers (public.econ.duke.edu/Papers/Treml.B…) describe that vodka (both legal & illegal) was used as a (commodity) currency in parallel-economy markets - unstoppable by any regime!
