When Rep. Kevin Kiley asks Acting Secretary Julie Su how Owner Operator truckers will be treated under the new FLSA rule & she couldn't (or wouldn't) answer. She also didn't know how many O/O truckers would be impacted by the rule. (Ofc he knew the answer: 350,000) youtube.com/watch?v=E2oxvb…

Thank you Aaron Bean for asking Acting Secretary Julie Su:

'The last survey I saw, 86% of independent contractors love what they're doing ... Are you still willing to go forward even though this is going to be against their will?'

Yet again, she has no answer.

.Kevin Kiley played this clip for Acting Secretary Julie Su.

'Agree or disagree?'

'If someone says, 'I want to be an independent contractor,' that's good enough for you?'

The tap dancing that follows puts Fred & Ginger to shame.

Thank you Congressman Nathaniel Moran for asking Acting Secretary Julie Su about the U.S. Department of Labor claim that its independent contractor rule would only take people 30 minutes to read and result in less than $25 of costs.

Nobody can even read 339 pages in 30 minutes.

Listening to Acting Secretary Julie Su take credit for creating jobs that allowed shelves to get restocked with things like baby formula, without acknowledging that it was the influx of Independent Owner Operator truckers who made that possible--jobs she's actively working to eliminate.

Thank you Representative Lisa McClain for asking Acting Secretary Julie Su what the goal is of the new U.S. Department of Labor independent contractor rule.

'Where's the problem? Seems to me we're trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. ... People have a choice.'

👏👏👏

Thank you Rep. Tim Walberg for standing up for independent contractors at today's hearing.

'Is there any update on outreach to stakeholders?'

Acting Secretary Julie Su can't even answer that question. Because she has no good answer.

Thank you Joe Wilson for talking about how you used to be an independent contractor, and for speaking out against the new U.S. Department of Labor rule.

We see you and we appreciate you 👏👏👏

Shocking to see Del. Kilili Sablan lie by saying the GOP is blocking Acting Secretary Julie Su from being confirmed as U.S. labor secretary.

The Democrats control confirmation in the U.S. Senate. Moderate Dems blocked Su to stop far-left extremism in labor policy.

They've been saying this for years: There's nothing in policies to stop employers from giving employees 💯 flexibility.

My response: There's also nothing to stop employers from giving employees a Lamborghini and a pony, but I don't see that happening either.

This congressional hearing will stream live online tomorrow morning.

Pretty easy to guess that the new U.S. Department of Labor independent contractor rule will come up in the questioning.

“30% of workers…say that losing this income stream would severely destabilize their financial situation. Additionally, over half of paycheck-to-paycheck consumers struggling to pay monthly bills likely depend on gig income, up from 38% just one year ago.” pymnts.com/gig-economy/20…

A day ago, the head of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO calls independent contractors “an existential threat not just to the labor movement but to society.”

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, labor unions want a bill to protect *them* against discrimination.

Ditto for every state’s congressional delegation and legislature. The would immediately cease if more self-employed people were lawmakers.

'From access to funding to burdensome regulations and urban myths about what we actually do, solopreneurs are too often given the short end of the stick or dismissed outright.'

Maybe U.S. Department of Labor should just go ahead and change its official motto to “drop dead, independent contractors” until the end of the current administration.
