Great thread. I feel this as a researcher and I felt this so much as a pregnant person, too. There is this default expectation that pregnant people should suffer through what can be a *ton* of discomfort in the interest of "just don't risk it" in the absence of evidence.

This. Our system is not working. Children are not learning in these unsafe conditions-they're being babysat. Intentional online instruction during the surge creates actual learning opportunities and decreases exposure to the virus.

Another day, another university email about how bad the #Omicron variant is, but we will still be having classes in person (plus here are some links about mental health)

The message is clearly communicated! We will provide you free high-quality masks that are uncomfortable and unnecessary, that are crucial to wear but you don’t have to, because we must act urgently maybe in a week or two, to help combat a very mild but also very deadly virus.

When universities proclaim that “no students died of COVID-19,” they disclaim responsibility for their communities. It is crucial for universities to recognize their culpability in an escalating pandemic. Your students did not die, but people died because of your students.

Was excited to see news of the new NASEM guidelines but when scholars I trust say it's bad guidance, I believe them. @AKWesselink There's a consensus statement mentioned in this thread we should review!
