On this day in 1757, an Englishman named John Childs flew from the steeple of Old North Church – sort of. A traveling entertainer, Childs built a makeshift zipline for his stunt.

The first public school. The first public park. The first state constitution. The first shot of the American Revolution. If you think #OurFirst250 was revolutionary, you haven’t seen anything yet.

What a busy time Paul Revere had #OTD in 1774! He climbed back on a horse (after 1 rest day) in Philly, carrying letters from John Adams & the Congressional response to the Suffolk Resolves back to MA. An apt day for a #WalksOnWednesday stroll to our local Paul on a horse!

In 1733, Old North Church received a number of special gifts from King George II, including this communion silver. During the Revolution, the silver was in peril. While King's Chapel's silver was brought back to England, our silver was hidden by the lay leaders in the church.
