Half day at work on my Wheal Alfred Patch. Constant rain and sulking rescue dogs didn't help birding. I did manage 18 species with my first ever Jan 1st Sparrowhawk. Plenty to find still and look forward to starting the Par patch tomorrow. #PWC2024 Patchwork Challenge

Despite showers and wind I headed out on patch at Par Beach & Pool. Managed to get 33 species which wasn't bad. The sea was rough so not much to spot. Plenty more to find in nicer weather. Three Coot on the pool a highlight. Rare on the pool these days. #PWC2024 Patchwork Challenge

Still yucky at my Wheal Alfred work patch yesterday but did find a few more ticks. Greenfinch, Meadow Pipit, Fieldfare and Bullfinch added to the total. I work with rescue dogs so all birds seen throughout the year are seen whilst walking the dogs. #pwc2024 Patchwork Challenge

Utter #patchgold on the work patch. Wet day and I turn a corner to a small car park and there is a wader poking around in a larger puddle. Turns out it's a bloody Greenshank. There is no water at all on this patch and it's the first one here in 7 years EVER. Patchwork Challenge

Absolutely delighted to find this singing and displaying Male Dartford Warbler this morning very close to my home. This is a previously unknown location for them so obviously won't be saying where it is. Interestingly this bird is ringed. I wonder where it came from? Fab bird.

Nice morning on the locally restored heathland near my house. Despite the muggy weather a few Whitethroat,Wheatear & Chiffchaff around along with all the regular bits & bobs.
