HMS Boadicea had four incarnations (1797, 1875, 1908, 1930; I think there was also a training ship and a Boadicea II). Steady as she goes! #BoudicaFriday #Echolands

Anyone new to (or bewildered by) my #PlaymobilInfestation posts might be interested to know I have a long history of photographing other miniature people who have infested my world…here’s a Tauntaun-mounted Luke Skywalker patrolling planet Hoth (my garden)…IN REAL SNOW c.1982

Iceni mist. Had to stop here in passing, Gallow’s Hill, Thetford, site of the remarkable, late Iron Age ritual (royal?) enclosure of Fison Way. Nothing dissolves time like a good mist… #Echolands

Marvellous scene from what is still my favourite depiction of Boudica’s rebellion, one of the last films of the silent era, Boadicea, 1926, with Phyllis Neilson-Terry in the lead role. Always love to see captured Roman standards! Onwards! #BoudicaFriday #Echolands

For a #BoudicaFriday and #FindsFriday ultimate combo, may I tempt you with this museum shop cut-out and wearable Snettisham torc dating to 1991? Comes with a very nice matching jewelled bracelet, too, ⁦Dr Tess Machling⁩ 🤣 #Echolands

Hev Yew Gotta Loight, Boy? One from archive for #BoudicaFriday, Will’s Gold Flake advert, 1951. Rather glad the advertising blurb concentrates on Big Ben, not the Boadicea statue… #Echolands

Oh dear. It’s the turn of Horatius Cocles to pick the evening’s entertainment, & the others have requested he doesn’t choose something with BRIDGE in the title, AGAIN. Currently, this is not looking hopeful.😬 #PlaymobilInfestation

“But look at the size of the fort - those Romans must be tiny! Are they for wargaming??” Playmobil Gauls. They’re tough, but they’re not clever. #PlaymobilInfestation #Richborough

“As usual, I didn’t even want to come to the pub, but this lot were DESPERATE!” “And these miniature Gauls…are they in the pub with us now?” “Yes, of course. They never leave my side. Now say Santé.” “Santé.” “Santé!” #PlaymobilInfestation

What did a Stone Age hunter-gatherer camp look like? Archaeological evidence is scarce, mainly consisting of worked stone. Much organic material has decayed or been lost, so we rely on other sources and site with special preservation to build these scenes. 🎥 emmalouwynjones
