.Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified he cares about children of long term visa holders and will follow up vigilantly. Meanwhile, Homeland Security has put a key proposed rule at risk by delaying it for over a year: reginfo.gov/public/do/eAge… They must publish it immediately for a final rule this year.

“Welcome to the United States.” After 19 years, my parents finally became “permanent residents.” It’ll be a quarter century of working and owning a small business before they become citizens. Despite the struggles, I’m grateful they brought us here.

My family moved to the US when I was 8, but by the time I turned 20, my dad was still on an H1B (waiting to get processed for a green card). Once I turned 21, I would age out as his dependent, despite the fact that I basically grew up in the US. I thought I'd have to become a

One of America's greatest strengths is that talent from around the world wants to move and build here. But US immigration is broken. It leaves innovators like Dwarkesh Patel dealing with anxiety and stress about aging out of a dependent green card. His story highlights how much

Tens of thousands of people who grew up in this country as dependents on a parents' work visas "age out" every year when they turn 21. That's not how the system was supposed to work. But growing delays mean some parents must wait decades for a green card—forcing their kids out.

Over 10,000 children of long term visa holders face aging out and self deportation every year. We need to pass America’s Children Act, which is the most bipartisan immigration bill in Congress.

Thousands of talented young people like Dwarkesh, who have been raised and educated in the United States with lawful status are being faced with leaving the country. Thousands leave every year. Kicking us out only hurts America. Time to pass America’s Children Act.

Interesting part about this is many of the 4% legal “temporary” residents are long term residents who may either be affected by the green card backlog or small business owners who may be unable to adjust to green card despite being here for decades.

We appreciate Rep. Pramila Jayapal leading a bipartisan group urging Homeland Security and USCIS for immediate publication of the proposed AOS regulation, which includes compelling circumstances EAD for some children of long term visa holders who age out.

This regulation has been slated for publication since 2022. It includes an important regulatory update that can help some children of long term visa holders who age out. Unfortunately, Homeland Security has delayed action. If they don’t publish this proposed rule soon, it is at risk of

I say, a mockery of justice is made when law abiding immigrants must break the law before asking a federal judge to review whether the government has broken the law. entrylaw.com/backlogcspalaw…

A federal court’s wild interpretation of “relief” in the Real ID Act will have severe repercussions for any attempt by a legal immigrant to challenge the government’s interpretation of AOS statutes in federal courts. Never thought breaking the law would be a requirement. “And,

The point of judicial review prior to a court ruling on the validity of a challenged statute of law makes sense for someone who is undocumented. How does it make sense for someone who has never been undocumented? Clearly, that cannot be the intent of Congress.
