Cancelled before I could finish the model 😭 would anyone still be interested in a LEGO recreation of VIPER in the same vein as LEGO’s 2014 Curiosity rover?

July 20, 1969 is perhaps the most significant date in the history of human spaceflight. 55 years ago today during #Apollo11 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin separated their lunar module Eagle from Michael Collins in the command module Columbia.

Eagle slowly descended to the lunar surface, piloted by Armstrong. Coming within seconds of depleting their fuel supply and aborting the mission, the two astronauts completed the landing and soon after exited the lunar module to take humanity’s first steps on the Moon!

For the second part of my Apollo 11 brickfilm, the events of July 20, 1969 have been recreated in LEGO! This portion covers lunar orbit all the way to the first moonwalk by Armstrong and Aldrin. If you’d like to watch the entire uncut film, it’s still up on YouTube!

Just 21 hours after they arrived at the lunar surface, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin lifted off from the Sea of Tranquility and joined Michael Collins in orbit around the Moon.  On their return journey, the crew reflected on their mission’s deeper meaning.

On July 24, 1969, Kennedy’s goal of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth was accomplished when Apollo 11 splashed down and the astronauts were brought aboard the USS Hornet! Once aboard, the crew was placed in quarantine for the return trip to Houston.

With the end of the Apollo 11 55th anniversary comes the end of my Apollo 11 series! I hope you've enjoyed the different segments of the full brickfilm over the last week! If you want to see the entire uncut version of the film, its permanent home is over on YouTube!
