It is moments like this - suffused with a deep peace even in memory - that inspire me to set aside doubt and keep working toward the life I want to create. 📸 Bruce Mcglenn

Quick sketch from an afternoon in Courmayeur last July. After a night at a refuge on the Italian side of the Alps I explored one of the most beautiful mountain towns I’ve ever visited.

After some time away I'll be sharing some work from this year's archive! Starting with this little painting made in the spring while my state was under stay at home orders. #artathome #StayHome #artist #acrylic #winterwonderland

Detail of a watercolor painting of the Le Tour Glacier. I visited this place in 2019 during a massive heat wave. Watching the landscape transform in a matter of weeks was humbling.

Snapshot of a torn painting. Created and then destroyed for a short film by Max Romey to raise awareness of threats to the Arctic Refuge.

Taking my painting for a little walk from the glacier far above to the base of the moraine where the ice used to reach in the 1990's. Glaciers are our canaries in a coal mine telling a story of rapid change and loss.

Observations of place: Olympic mountains. The colors of dry grass, fall colors a few weeks early, and a horizon smudged in smoke tell the story of this year’s drought and unprecedented wildfire season.

The patterns created by rain when I put my watercolor painting outside. On days when my heart weighs heavily with the news, painting is where I find a few moments of focus, and peace.
