Fantastic find today in Oxfam for £3. Arthur Holmes’ Principles of Physical Geology, 2nd edition from 1948. I love reading old geology books and seeing how they tried to understand concepts we take for granted today. The “Continental Drift” chapter in this book is so entertaining

2024 was a rollercoaster year: a few good highs but a lot of long lows, especially in the second half of the year. It wasn’t until December when the high points came back. Hopefully that momentum will last in 2025 and we all end up having a great year! 🎊🌋

The end of my PhD is well and truly in sight as I began addressing the comments from my viva today, including changing the title - still subject to change 😅

PhD is officially fully complete!! Corrections have been accepted and now it’s time to celebrate in style!

Eight years and two degrees later, my time University of Leicester Geology at Leicester has finally come to an end. It’s been a fantastic journey learning about the wonders of geology, making life long friends, and seeing the world. Thank you to everyone who has been with me along the way!

If I ever have to leave Leicester it’ll be seeing sights like this I’ll probably miss the most. These three are what remains of this year’s litter of five and they love to play in our garden (hence the mess).
