Specialist Strategic Firearms Command training today. I was the only woman in a room of approx 30 men. There are a few female specialists but not many. Its been a long time since that has happened to me and actually felt very odd. Still more to be done re gender equality.

Accounts like these are very common, it's a shame that in this case there was a lack of pastoral presence to pick up on these issues and make recommendations for appropriate support. Assigning a label to someone who is clearly struggling is so harmful.

Very interested to know if the TRUE realities of gang life are portrayed to young people in schools now days? If not, perhaps this is something that could be done to undermine the glamour and honour of gang lifestyle, that is often portrayed through social media? 🤔

I'm pleased to have been asked to be a speaker at the PublicPolicyExchange Webinar today: 'Tackling Gang Crime'. It's important that we engage with young people, schools and parents to raise awareness of the realities of County Line Gangs and label this as a Public Health Crisis.

I'm proud of the work my @ARU_AHSS Undergraduate Dissertation students are doing at ARU with regard to #CountyLineGangs and I look forward to hearing their presentations at the annual Criminology @ ARU Conference in two weeks.
