If you’re reading this, you matter. You are somebody. Your bank account does not determine your worth. You deserve a good life. You matter. You are somebody.

You're bringing your own assumptions of violence into the discussion. Plenty of rich people want to be taxed more, and want to see their tax dollars spent better, and would celebrate a change to a system that ends extreme poverty and makes them a little less rich.

Holy cow, thanks for asking! 12 hours of "Die commie scum!!!!!!!!!" comments made me fear this question might never be coming. First off: taxation is required to support a nation. From roads to the military and police to really anything we want to do to unite and protect

It's the weekend! A long, holiday weekend at that. On Monday, I'll be celebrating... 1) Labor Day. It's kind of a big deal for UBI advocates. What could possibly bring more power to working people everywhere than a floor of income security to provide the leverage to be able to

I seem to be scrolling past a significant uptick in bigoted and hateful crap on here lately. To whom it may concern at X, please stop sending so much of it to my feed. I avoid following these people for a reason.

It's a decent analogy insofar as UBI remains incredibly counterintuitive to many, and also in that gravity was originally a concept popularly considered nonsensical. Your analogy falls apart a bit, though, in that gravity pulling rather than pushing is the more scientifically

The mathematical and logistical elegance and efficiency of UBI was the first thing that excited me about the idea when I read about it back in 2016. The second thing was its potential to be broadly popular across party lines... ... if understood and presented well.

I love environmentalist pigouvian approaches to funding UBI. I'm also very fond of the commons and public ownership frameworks around the idea. They might not free up enough capital in today's political environment to fund a very large UBI, though, so I also support other

UBI and climate are far more intertwined than people realize. Deia Schlosberg and I actually came to the movement from the climate side. NYCers interested in UBI and/or climate, I'll be joining a panel on Sept 24 as part of #ClimateWeekNYC. Hope to see you there!

UBI doesn't subsidize poverty. It subsidizes agency, autonomy, and economic security. And yes, what has been found is that subsidizing those things does in fact lead to more of them. So your adage is right, but your interpretation is flawed.
