🚨 Breaking: Vivaldi 6.9 just dropped about 40 minutes ago! It’s built upon Chromium 128.0.6613.117. All known Chromium vulnerabilities should therefore be patched in this release. If you’re a @VivaldiBrowser user, update now!

Opera has clarified its status re: a Chromium patch released last week; Google upgraded it to “exploits… exist in the wild” status on Monday. While I truly appreciate Opera’s transparency, I cannot recommend using Opera browsers at this time, if security is your top priority.

FYI, gamers: @OperaGXofficial, “the browser for gamers,” is missing several high-severity security patches. If security is a high priority for you, consider using another browser.

If you use the Bitwarden Password Manager or TLS Inspector apps for iOS, check the App Store for updates. Per their release notes, both include security improvements. 👀 TLS Inspector even patches known vulnerabilities (with CVEs) in 2 open-source components: OpenSSL and curl.

MacRumors.com *Fixed, past tense—way back on July 29, the last date we got a visionOS update. Apple added a mention of this vulnerability to the visionOS 1.3 security release notes a week ago, on September 5. x.com/macrumors/stat…

July 29, 2024. That’s the date of Apple’s last security patches. Every other major OS & browser has had 2+ patch cycles since then. Updates are coming on Monday (macOS Sequoia, iOS 18…). So, 49 days between security updates. 👀 Should Apple patch vulnerabilities more often?

Lest anyone erroneously assume that the present gap between Apple security updates is an outlier, it’s not. It’s right on par with what Apple has been doing all year. I wrote this in an article that was published on August 9th.
