Wrapping up my time down under with a talk at the Monash University Biomedicine Discovery Institute hosted by Karla Hutt. My favorite was spending time (and lunch) with trainees and staff and attending a lab meeting to learn about their ongoing work.
This time, we developed a nasal booster vaccine for influenza viruses. In this preprint, Miyu Moriyama et al. show that nasal boosters with unadjuvanted hemagglutinin protein induce sterilizing immunity in mice against flu. (1/) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
What are the rules of the immune receptor code? In my talk Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics last Friday I summarised our recent findings, provide a perspective on why ML approaches have so far not achieved breakthrough success, and propose a path forward: online.kitp.ucsb.edu/online/viralim…
Super excited to talk to my amazing colleagues down the road. Has been a great visit to The University of Tennessee Health Science Center so far!
We analyzed immune memory to COVID mRNA vaccines across human tissues and found durable persistence of T cell memory in lymphoid organs and lungs with enhanced regulatory functions compared to blood. Julia Davis-Porada collaboration with Peter Sims Teijaro Lab @columbia_MI

I have collected Christmas ornaments for years, but two of my close collaborators just gifted me my first JCC Lab ornament! They said it’s a rocket because “the lab is taking off”. Thanks so much Anastasia (Asya) Minervina and Mikhail Pogorelyy!!
Just saw a talk by Andrew Pask at #AGBT25 #AGBTGM on marsupial genomics, evolution, and gene editing for conservation. Completely mind blowing work. Taking both genetic editing and conservation work into a new frontier.
