At our office's request, demolition has begun at 5356 N Sheridan, a site that has posed a hazard to the community. Construction is expected to begin this year on a new residential building which underwent a community process years ago. Thanks to the community for your engagement.

The funeral procession for the late Officer Luis Huesca passed through Edgewater earlier today. We offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Huesca. May you find comfort in one another's company as you lay him to rest.

We will lay our hero Police Officer Luis M. Huesca #18913 to rest today. Officer Huesca will be remembered for his kindness and innate commitment to service. We will always carry on his legacy in honor of him and his family.

I want to honor Daniel Hertz, who is leaving his role as the Department of Housing's Director of Policy, Research, and Legislative Affairs. Our city is a better place because of Daniel's tireless efforts to expand housing affordability and renter protections across Chicago.

As a Northwestern Medill alumna, I'm deeply disappointed to see Northwestern block reporters from covering a major news story unfolding on its campus.
