Learning a very different language, such as Japanese, requires you to be open to different ideas you are not familiar with. If you are the type of person who has trouble understanding different ways of thinking, there's a chance that you will struggle with learning a language

Some people who are learning Japanese seem to dislike ambiguity. When I explain the nuances and ambiguity of the languages, they are like, "Can I just have simple rules that I can follow?" "I prefer textbooks that give me simple answers." From my perspective, I like languages

Japanese language schools in Japan can be like this. I have a friend who's going to a Japanese language school in Japan. They give her a lot of homework. One day, she was lazy, so she asked her Japanese husband to do her homework, which was a fill-in-the-blank type of question.

It's kind of crazy to think that we have more freedom of speech in Japan than in the US today. (During WWII, we had no freedom of speech. The US initially "helped" (or imposed?) us implement things like freedom of sheep.)
