⚠️ England’s progress toward the #30by30 target has dropped to just 2.93% of land protected for nature! With only 5 years to hit 30%, urgent action is critical. The Green Belt holds major potential for recovery. Let’s put nature at the heart of planning. bit.ly/4dILENk

We keep the grass long on the edge of this raised border because it’s always full of juvenile slow worms. In sun all day & well insulated over winter. Possibly the last I’ll see in #2024

Some 2024 baby slow worms out in the lawn today. Grass is only about 4 long but the neonates are earthworm sized. Fingernail for scale. Pretty much everything else in the garden is a predator to them for the next 3-4 years.
