It’s very much a post-truth policy: the Supreme Court made a finding of fact, and the government just claimed otherwise in a bill which it then forced through.

So the Rwanda bill becomes law, with Britain now an inspiration to the extreme right in Europe while undermining the rule of law at home.
Legislating that Ruanda is a safe country after the Supreme Court stated it is not, remains a dangerous precedent.

Tory MPs have just voted again to insist that Afghans who worked for our armed forces & who put their own lives at risk for our country can be sent to Rwanda.

The House of Lords can and should dig in on the Rwanda Bill. This is not a manifesto Bill. The human rights implications are stark. The implications for the UK's international commitments are real. The upper chamber has delaying powers for a night like tonight.

We knocked on over 600 doors in Compton today, across three different canvasses. We found a huge number of Labour voters, many of whom are voting Labour for the first ever time next week!
