'Black Lives Matter' simply refers to the notion that there's a specific vulnerability for black Nova Scotians that needs to be addressed. It's not meant to suggest that other lives don't matter. It's to suggest that other folks aren't experiencing this particular vulnerability.

Children were physically, sexually, mentally, emotionally and spiritually abused. Children died, are still dying.

In 2020 in Ontario, 11 Indigenous children died “in care” under the watch of the provincial Child Welfare System

The purpose of this day is to promote public awareness about the Mi'kmaw culture and heritage for all Nova Scotians.
