Children were physically, sexually, mentally, emotionally and spiritually abused. Children died, are still dying.

In 2020 in Ontario, 11 Indigenous children died “in care” under the watch of the provincial Child Welfare System

Today is Treaty Day, a day held annually on Oct 1, marking the beginning of Mi'kmaq History Month here in NS, proclaimed in 1993. The purpose of this day is to promote public awareness about the Mi'kmaw culture and heritage for all Nova Scotians.
