What this means (it applies to many ointments etc) is the manufacturer has tested & full potency remains after the time stated. It will last longer, often much longer, but they haven’t checked. There isn’t any incentive for them.

I see Wild Justice have again latched onto the lucrative badger cull for legal action. Hardly a pressing conservation issue. Action based on one scientist saying after four years culls can stop, but they’ll never mention the same scientist supports those years of culling.

The best TV commentators are those who you haven’t a clue of their politics. When they get too big for their boots it’s time to let them go.

Much is being made in Ireland that, on testing, only 20% of culled badgers tested positive. The test used finds around half of infections so a good estimate is that 30-40% of the badgers had TB. If that isn’t considered concerning what level should be? thejournal.ie/dail-call-to-e…

Quote from an environmental celebrity in the Times… “For my part I remain an uncompromising vector of truth, a truth defined by science, not opinion or lore. And that truth is sometimes difficult for the slow to follow”. How to win friends & influence people.

This particular group of scientists always strike me as having an axe to grind. Nevertheless their study does add to the weight of evidence that public education around spot-on pet insecticides needs to be improved. bvajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Another survey of TB in badgers. Same result, 20% detected infection - meaning 30-40% actually infected. Still amazes me how many close their eyes to this. farmersjournal.ie/more/northern-…
