The harbour at Killybegs in Co. Donegal was one of our sampling spots, being a prominent port in the country. Also good luck to the Ryan Institute @ University of Galway research team launching from Killybegs for their month-long Arctic Expedition! University of Galway Research & Innovation #environment
Careful analysis of simple “mud” from rivers can tell us a great deal on environmental hazards, dirt being a substantial sink for pollutants of all kinds. Here at #Galway and with the EPA Ireland, we’re using this knowledge to clean up the #IrishEnvironment!
Sampling at the banks of the Glendarragh river, right by the CLG Chill Chartha GAA grounds. No matches while I was there unfortunately, but beautiful grounds for a great club!
Wastewater treatment plants process millions of litres of sewage and contaminated water annually. They are a vital part of our infrastructure, without which rivers and waterways would be hugely polluted by raw sewage, run-off from landfills, etc. Uisce Éireann - Irish Water
Making excellent progress on our inland sediment samples! Sampling is going on and the preparation for analysis is well on the way universityofgalway.ie/terrachem/ EPA Research News University of Galway Research & Innovation
