Today the Order of Preachers celebrates the memorial of St. Agnes of Montepulciano!

In the convent, Agnes lived a life of ardent prayer that was an expression of her love for the world.

At nine she entered a monastery. She was commissioned by Pope Nicholas IV to assist in the foundation of a monastery of which she became prioress at age fifteen. She established a convent of Dominican nuns that she governed until her death.

Fr John S. Hogan, ocds Pope Francis I will be praying that St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross be declared a Doctor of the Church.

Earlier today, at an audience with Pope Francis, our Father General, Fr Miguel, & Postulator General, Fr Marco, presented a petition to the Pope, requesting that St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross be declared a Doctor of the Church.
A formal process of investigation will now begin.
