It is a false choice to suggest that you either favor the Second Amendment OR want reasonable gun safety laws—we can do both.

For the second election in a row, I couldn't be prouder to be a #GunSenseCandidate . I've been learning from @momsdemand and @everytown for years now, and I'll continue learning from, and working with, them every day until we have reasonable gun legislation that protects Iowans!

Arming teachers is not the answer to school shootings—it’s just another way for the gun industry to profit off of our nation’s gun violence crisis. Any lawmakers who push to arm our teachers will have to answer for it on Election Day.

Since Columbine, over 400 school shootings – from Newtown to Parkland to Uvalde – have exposed over 370,000 students to the horrors of gun violence.

Students across the country now learn how to duck and cover before they learn how to read and write.

This violence must end.

It’s been twenty-five years since two students, armed with assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, shot and killed 13 people and wounded almost twice as many others at Columbine High School.

Our hearts go out to the survivors who still live with trauma, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the entire Columbine High School community. We work to #EndGunViolence in their honor to ensure that no one will ever have to experience their pain again.

This comes just three months after a shooting at Perry High School that killed a sixth grader and the school principal and wounded six others. Instead of passing policies proven to make schools safer, Iowa’s extremist lawmakers have chosen to side with the gun industry.

There is no evidence that arming teachers makes our schools any safer or prevents school shootings. Allowing all school staff to carry loaded guns on school grounds—especially with minimal training—is dangerous and only puts students and staff at greater risk of being shot.

The evidence is clear: Active shooter drills in schools deeply harm students & communities. I'm grateful to lawmakers like Assemblymember Chris Ward for listening to the evidence and pushing for trauma-informed safety measures in our schools! #AB1858 #CALeg Students Demand Action

This is a terrible bill

There is no evidence that having police in schools improves safety.

SHAME: Gov. Kim Reynolds just signed an extremely dangerous bill allowing ALL school employees to carry guns into schools with qualified immunity. The law goes into effect immediately.
