The ROR community (inactive Nov 2024) interface and API work well for a small number of affiliations that need identifiers, but what if you have many organization names or affiliations? Try RORRetriever if you have a big ROR search and don’t know where to start! github.com/Metadata-Game-…

Thank you to Erin Robinson - @[email protected] for the relaunch. The new #FAIRIsland website looks great! fairisland.org

I wrote up a quick blog with a 3 min ⚡️ talk for OBFS Tweets and initial findings from interviewing 10 field stations about how researchers access the site and how they get needed permits. Would love reactions -> erinrobinson.info/2022/09/result…

What if even by saying “fake science” you inadvertently participate in a scam? What if this phrase legitimizes fraud, lies, and deceit? scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2022/10/25/dup… via Scholarly Kitchen

Ran into old friend josephkerski teaching about GIS at AGU (American Geophysical Union) meeting. Talked about using metadata every day. Can you tell the difference between dog food and soup? spatialreserves.wordpress.com/2023/01/23/met…

Happy to see github.com/Metadata-Game-… helped Caltech Library re-curate RORs into their metadata! ror.org/blog/2023-02-2… Connections are critical!

What does project metadata look like in DataCite (inactive Mar 2025)? There are over 100,000 projects described with DataCite metadata. Current approaches in a sample of these (metadatagamechangers.com/blog/2023/5/2/…) shows no clear pattern and opportunities for improving project connectivity.

What is in ORCID Organization profiles and where does it come from? Data from UCAR: it's mostly published works and most gets added by publishers through Crossref (inactive Jan 2025). Researchers benefit from work they already did during article submission! metadatagamechangers.com/blog/2023/6/6/… University Corporation for Atmospheric Research

The distribution of resourceTypes in DataCite (inactive Mar 2025) continues to evolve. A current update shows that 75% of the resources added so far during 2023 are PhysicalObjects. This is a great step forward for connecting these to past and future research. metadatagamechangers.com/blog/2023/7/17…
