Mike Solana These people and their friends are are all about performative intellectualism, they think intelligence is reflected by how smart you appear (to them) in SMS conversations.

lex friedman the type of guy to have the smartest computing person on his podcast and ask them silly questions like explain why javascript is the marvel cinematic universe of programming languages or how many meals do you eat in a day. it’s an art form

The biggest blackpill on why energy is expensive is this: because it's nearly impossible to develop new capacity and get it connected to the grid. Projects build in 2022 spent ~5 years waiting to get approved to connect to grid In 2015 it was 3 years In 2008 it was <2 years

if you're a cs undergrad you're probably better off ditching leetcode forever in favor of getting good at willing ideas into existence. literally minmax solving IRL problems. don't do fake work the cost of writing software approaches 0 in the limit so position yourself for that

we're approaching godlike prediction of earth's behavior. this will unlock wildfire/drought/flood/heatwave prevention, simulating ocean circulation, grid optimization, crop yield responses, hurricane tracking, perfect water allocation estimates, sea-level predictions, air quality

you should legally be required to disclose what quantization level you are serving your current model at like it was a nutrition label. you should also be banned from dynamically adjusting quantization based on demand without notification. (you know who you are ...)

Most companies have an engineering backlog that far exceeds their resource pool. So you make tradeoffs on the things you can productively work on, which means you do fewer things. AI means you can light up more projects, thus increasing the downstream work to be done.
