Last Friday, UA took Congressman Donald Norcross 🇺🇸 and Mayor Vic Carstarphen on a kayak tour of the Cooper River Water Trail, part of a continual grant with National Fish and Wildlife Foundation We appreciate the Mayor and Congressman’s support and desire to connect with and protect these local waterways!!🛶🌊
On Saturday, UA and @littoralsociety hosted our 5th annual Floatopia! 80 floaters joined us on the Delaware River for a celebration of clean water. A huge shoutout to Mayor Vic Carstarphen and Mark Squilla for giving speeches about the importance of clean water and public access!
Join UA and ShoreRivers this Wednesday, August 28th at The Big Owl in Grasonville, MD, for Green Drinks! From 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, mingle on the docks at the bar or on the H.M. Krentz skipjack. This year’s Green Drink’s will be hosted in honor and memory of Pat Stuntz.
Last week, UA hosted a 3-day expedition paddling the entirety of the Brandywine River in DE & PA. This weekend, UA co-hosted our Choptank 2.0 kayak expedition with ShoreRivers . We gathered a powerhouse group of scientists, policymakers, federal and state government employees, and NGOs to explore the future of Bay conservation and the vital need to be bold and optimistic.
2023 Water and Environment Grantee Update: The Foundation recently visited Thomaston, ME, to tour Upstream Alliance’s Firefly, a solar education vessel. It will provide on-water experiential experiences on the Delaware River. #AWCF #KeepCommunitiesFlowing
This week, UA, along with our incredible supporters, funders, and volunteers, visited Lyman-Morse Boat to see the latest progress on Firefly - our solar-powered floating classroom that will bring transformative, on-water STEM education to Camden and Philadelphia students. ⛴️☀️🌊
Yesterday, UA joined New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, local officials and community leaders to honor CCMUA for its work to protect public health by reducing combined sewer discharges and localized flooding through green infrastructure improvements. Congratulations CCMUA!
Last week, UA student ambassadors Bella and Noah were filmed by Discovery Education for a video about urban waterways in Camden, NJ! We are so grateful to Subaru ,our partner and one of the funders of the Camden Education Program, for connecting us with Discovery Education
In just 10 days, UA ran 12 trips aboard the chartered vessel, Escape, welcoming students from Camden City School District and Camden's Charter for on-water educational experiences! We also held 2 evening cruises for partner orgs and educators to spread the word about Firefly!🛥️🛶
