In search of the right combo of happy and strange I will start alternating Wodehouse and Lovecraft. Also, the Laundry files series. Thanks book suggestion algorithm! Also, Amazon shouldn't try to sell me books that don't come out til November. It's cruel.

Last week my former lab gave me the coolest graduation present ever: resin coasters containing all of my dead qubit and amplifier samples ❤️

Super excited that our new preprint on modular quantum computing with a quantum state router is out now. Represents tons of hard work by Chao Zhou and Pinlei Lu. arxiv.org/pdf/2109.06848…

For APS swag providers: those light up bouncy balls are great, my kids love them, but they are too hard. They're gonna end up going through a window or a cabinet front. Or maybe the same thing w my grads in the lab.

Our Physics Artists in Residency program is today at 3 PM in Frick Fine Arts auditorium. It features not only the triumphant return of physics-inspired student art but also the return of tasty free food! So, if you are hungry and/or curious check it out!

Check out our new joint publication with the Jones Group at Pitt exploring co-design for NISQ processors. We look at which (modestly large) architectures are both (a) buildable using our parametric gates and (b) good at NISQ algorithms. arxiv.org/abs/2205.04387
