Conditions were very favorable for supercells and tornadoes yesterday, featuring strong deep, low-level shear, high values of streamwise vorticity for left-moving supercells and low LCLs. The threat was correctly identified by PREVOTS, who issued a highest risk level in the area.

These 4 images show the supercell that produced the deadly Rio Bonito do Iguacu tornado yesterday as the town was struck. Smaller storms just W/NW of the supercell interacted with the main supercell's hook as the tornado formed, suggesting a potential nudger event.

Aerial imagery shared with me (looking for exact source), but it shows the extent of the damage done to the mobile homes in the recent tornado. Note that some were completely removed from their foundations and disintegrated mid-air with debris deposited downwind. Horrible...

With #ecss2025 coming to an end, I have to say as a first conference for me, it was quite impressive. So great meeting tons of big names of this world as well as meeting some of my peers! So many interesting talks and posters! So many ideas to explore and work on!

Giant hail fell today over eastern Australia (photos from Higgins Storm Chasing FB page). Note that ARCHaMo highlighted the area quite well and the sounding taken at 06 UTC shows incredible conditions with fat CAPE profile and very strong deep-layer shear.
