Teachers who receive regular recognition & appreciation are: * More productive * More engaged in school * More likely to stay with school * More likely to receive higher satisfaction scores from students & parents. Yes, Appreciation matters!

I agree with Rachel. Many don't understand that waiting for Tier 2 and Tier 3 to provide evidence-based instruction is ill-advised as it waiting for kids to fail. Evidence-based instruction benefits all and hurts none.

Classroom level Tier 1 interventions are crucial, as are school wide plans and consistency for ensuring reading success. “Expectations need to made explicit…ideally ones that are matched in classrooms across the school.” (Art and Science of Teaching Primary Reading) Christopher Such

Daily points to ponder: What processes must be in place on a classroom, school and board level to allow for effective literacy instruction? My guess….an overhaul is needed in Ontario.

If we really want evidence-based instruction to take root in classrooms, we need to make sure the work is grounded in school sites; supported and led by teachers. PD is important, but it's got to be linked to the real work in the classroom because otherwise... [see above tweets]

Just my regular reminder that we can’t intervene our way out of tier 1 problem( aka non-evidenced based instruction/programs)

Yes and yes!! For any learning to take place, everyone needs to feel safe. Safe to explore, safe to make mistakes and safe to say ‘I don’t know yet’.

To all educators, we need to remind ourselves that we don’t have to be perfect. Success isn’t perfection. Instead, it’s the relentless pursuit of growth, striving to be better than we were yesterday, and continuously trying to increase our impact on our students’ learning. ❤️

Nor is the #ScienceOfReading a series of activities we do and thus ‘check off’ saying we have done our job. It is putting into action sound practices shown by rigorous research to match how students learn. It is a cycle of data collection to meet students needs in targeted ways.
