The government's review of the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) sector must recognise that these partnerships, & the teachers they teach, know how to #TeachBest.

Polling by Tes has found that 65% of teachers are unaware of the Department for Education's plans to overhaul the teacher training market. It's vital that teachers and school staff share their thoughts on the review - get involved here: teachbest.education #TeachBest

Fewer ITE placements will result in fewer teachers, which ultimately means a drop off in the number of children able to receive the excellent education they deserve. Help us protect the teacher training pipeline and get involved here: teachbest.education #TeachBest #ITE #ITT

"Proposed ITT reforms undermine our professional learning and could lead to teacher shortages" Great piece from @AlisonMPeacock outlining the issues with the government's ITT review - providers, & the teachers they teach, already know how to #TeachBest. tes.com/news/initial-t…

The government's plans for ITT put thousands of teaching training places at risk at the very time when we need these teachers the most. Get involved with #TeachBest: bit.ly/3jNkFIk tes.com/news/teacher-t…

We agree with the call for the government to immediately halt the proposed changes in its teacher training review. The review puts thousands of teaching training places at risk unnecessarily and at the worst time possible. tes.com/news/teacher-t…

We stand with Chartered College of Teaching and education unions in asking the government to pause the proposed changes to teacher training. Providers must be engaged with properly to minimise the impact on trainees, schools, and pupils, which could be devastating. schoolsweek.co.uk/education-lead…

"The needs of children, young people & teachers should be our top priority. Sadly, it’s obvious that what underpins this report is the same ideological approach to education that's characterised this DfE since 2010." Great to have @IanMearnsMP's support: schoolsweek.co.uk/itt-review-doe…

University ITE ... should be something we are proud of as a country and something that is respected like it is in other countries. Let's stand firm and stand together. The winds are strong at the moment but our roots are deep.

Decisions should be made based on evidence, after proper consultation with ITE providers and the teachers they teach, and not based on implementing changes 'as soon as possible'. Thousands of teacher training places are at stake if the DfE get this wrong, it cannot be rushed.

β€œIf the Department continues to stick its head in the sand and forge ahead with the review as it currently exists, it can no longer expect to count on the good faith and expertise of the sector to engage any further with these destabilising and hollow proposals.” #TeachBest

"Through its inability to listen to key stakeholders, or take their concerns seriously, the DfE has achieved quite the feat in managing to alienate a diverse range of bodies working across the sector. This alone should make the government think again." #TeachBest

Read @UCET_UK's concerns in Tes regarding recent demoralising Ofsted inspections, which appear to being undertaken in order to push a particular agenda. Providers, teachers and pupils all deserve better - write to Gavin Williamson today: teachbest.education/get-involved/ #TeachBest

Some ITTE course leaders have reported that recent Ofsted inspections were the worst experience of their professional lives, and are unable to speak about them without becoming distressed. We believe that providers, teachers and pupils deserve better - do you? #TeachBest

The government risks thousands of teacher training places by focusing on an "ambitious timescale" and "momentum" above all else. These decisions should be made based on evidence, after proper consultation with ITT providers and the teachers they teach. tes.com/news/dfe-itt-s…
