Final from the scrimmage: Heritage 13, Gatlinburg-Pittman 6. Heritage’s offense was smooth at times, but also it looked like the first scrimmage of the year. A few miscues hurt them on several drives. The defense, which returns nine of 11 starters, was terrific.

Good evening from Maryville High School! Maryville Rebels Football is hosting Baylor School in its first of two scrimmages this week. We’ll get started here at 6:30. Follow along for some updates!

A pair of #Vols commitments are in Maryville tonight as the Rebels are hosting Baylor School for a scrimmage. Gabriel Osenda (4/5⭐️) and Jamyan Theodore (3⭐️) warming up ahead of what should be a fun scrimmage. Daily Times Sports

david anderson Daily Times Sports Gabriel “Big Squish” Osenda Jamyan Theodore 🇭🇹 I didn't keep official stats because of the scrimmage format, but both looked good. Jamyan Theodore showcased great ball skills and athleticism, too. Offense for Baylor had a good day all around, and Theodore had this nice touchdown reaching behind his back.

They didn’t really track the score or yards, so here’s a few thoughts from the night. Baylor was MaxPrep’s No. 1 ranked team in the state, and for good reason. They have some real dudes on that team, a few of which are headed to UT. Maryville was no easy out.

The biggest standout to me was RB Cohen Babelay. He’s the Rebels’ No. 1 back after a preseason injury to Cam Porter. Babelay was super physical. He took last season off from football to focus on baseball (he’s committed to Tennessee Tech) but is back for his senior year.

Some other thoughts: WR Julian Douglas had a nice night at a position group which Maryville still has some questions about. The O-Line, also with two open positions, had some good, and some no-so-good, moments. Defense was also a mixed bag against a really good Baylor team.
