This is exceptional. For me, our meetings’s most critical meeting. Inequalities in physical health and how digital inequality in forensic mental health settings contributes. Dr Jonathan Bickford - you are a brilliant speaker and everyone in FMH should see this. The Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry

Our recent paper was published this weekend in PLOS Medicine. We report that severe violent victimisation requiring medical care is a strong risk factor for subsequent psychiatric disorders, suicidal behaviours and premature mortality.

Pretty fascinating programme for this conference in March on legacy of Emil Kraepelin. Also always great to see a healthy discount for trainees, for History of Psychiatry Special Interest Group members (& for those attending both days)

Findings from our pilot prospective cohort study on prison environment factors and self-harm are in print. A step towards good evidence in an important area, though limitations here include poss. of reverse causality. Work funded by NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) 🙏

Almost all high income countries have research examining prevalence of mental illness in prisons. For low/middle income countries, patchy coverage but consistently high rates psychosis, which are at least 4x higher than community surveys. Open access: thelancet.com/journals/lanpu…
