A problem with several bigtech search softwares: They go "we'll give you a snazzy extra widget at the top rather than simply using our main search algorithm!" But then the snazzy widget at the top has poor standards and probably isn't maintained well.

The funny thing about this is that essentially no one at big companies owns site search. I worked for years with a site search startup. We couldn’t find who to sell to in the target organizations. Customer tell you what they want… and most companies ignore them
