Pretty sure I earned my performance-based pay today, David Seymour and ACT New Zealand, when a guest who came to watch a performance was asked by my bolshy self to actually watch the performance instead of writing on their phone. Making things better for our kids is what teachers do...

Learned more about ako today when I saw a man weaving flax at the park and asked him if I could watch. He weaved and showed me how to do what he was doing, let me try, taught me about what part of the flax to collect. Ako. Being curious and stepping outside my comfort zone.
