This has a really unique colouration on its coat. There's an odd bald-looking patch on its rump. Not sure if this is partly due to shedding its winter coat or something else. What do you think?

Firewood alert! Help stop the spread of forest pests like Dutch elm disease and emerald ash borer.

🔥 Buy and burn firewood locally; never transport it home.
🔥 Avoid transporting elm firewood into AB.
🔥 Be prepared with alternative cooking methods in case of a fire ban.

Spotting a moose: A breathtaking encounter in the wild! Don't forget — if you spot these wild locals, always keep your distance and never approach them.

Find a bear roadside in K-Country?
• Stay in your vehicle
• Slow down. The bear may run or walk onto the road.
• Try to stay at least 100 m away
• NEVER drive between a mother and her cubs on opposite sides of the road
• Don’t stop. No parking on the sides of highways.

Congratulations to writer John Vaillant on being named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction, for his book Fire Weather. Take a look at our interview by Paloma Pacheco, in which Vaillant discusses the book.

If you’re hitting the trails this weekend, remember to pack out what you packed in. 🎒

Overlooked trash is litter, and litter is not only ugly—it can be deadly. Plastic bags, cigarette butts, fishing lines and other waste can harm wildlife and plants when not disposed of.

Calving season is upon us, so remember to give our four-legged friends plenty of space 🦌

From May until early July, female elk are very defensive of their young so be aware of your surroundings when exploring Banff National Park.

Now on Substack my interview with one of the owners of Banded Peak Brewing. You might be asking yourself how owning a brewery fits the Wild Jobs theme. I guess you'll have to follow the link to figure that out!

A pair of White-Tails hanging around in the small clearing. One is grazing in the background while the other is checking-out the lick branch. I like this photo with the sun rays shining down in the centre of it.

(1/4) Bears attracted into urban areas to feed on unnatural food sources is a public safety risk because they are easily habituated and may defend the food source.
-Residents should store garbage in bear-resistant and odor-proof containers or buildings.
