This BIG Grizz passed my camera just 1.5 hours before I did. Glad I didn't bump into him while checking the rest of my cameras! Captured in Alberta's Rocky Mountains. youtube.com/watch?v=_XsDO8… #TrailCam #CameraTrap #Bears #Grizzly #Wildlife #Alberta #GrizzlyBear Bushnell

Elk rutting season has begun and lasts until mid-October. Bull elk are extremely dangerous during this time as they prepare to mate. Always stay at least 30 meters (100 feet or three bus lengths) away, never get between a male and the females and keep your dog on a leash.

During larch season mountain parking lots fill up quickly. Park your vehicle in designated lots and obey all posted signs. Go early in the morning or mid-week. Staying flexible and visiting outside of the busy times can help guarantee a parking spot and a better experience!

Today we celebrate #NationalForestWeek, a time to recognize the amazing forests here in Alberta. Forests play many important roles in our parks like providing a habitat for wildlife, hosting outdoor adventures and being an endless source of magnificent beauty and inspiration.

Alberta’s standards require reforestation within two years of harvest. In 2023-2024, Alberta’s forest industry achieved this by planting over 99 million seedlings, helping forests regenerate and stay resilient.

If you’re planning to go for a hike this fall, start early in the day to make sure you have enough sunlight for your trip. Research the route, tell someone where you’re going, and pack a flashlight or headlamp just in case you get caught on the trail as the sun begins to set.
