This is what it looks like to practice your pre-pitch routine and red/yellow light release as part of a drill in practice. Fun to go over these fundamentals of one pitch at a time with TCU Baseball last night. Former Big XII Player of The Year Cody Jones giving us the demo

Today in 1994, John Tyler defeated Plano East 48–44 in a playoff game at Texas Stadium. The game drew national attention due to its wildly improbable and tumultuous finish, with 7 touchdowns scored in the last 4 1/2 minutes, and it won the 1995 Showstopper of the Year ESPY Award

Been working with HP Geometry students on proportions and similarity. Couldn’t help but think this applies naturally! What do you think Tom Marker? If you think you can coast through the school day, then turn it on at your game…uhhh think again.

Coaching 3rd yesterday in a meaningless tournament game, I noticed the opponents 3rd baseman fist pumping and exclaiming enthusiastically after every out like it was the final out in the 11th inning of a tied playoff game. He never slowed down. Can I see more of this please? #joy

Timid players HAVE TO bat and rigid players NEED a hit when they get the chance. Baseball “rats” GET TO bat and they WANT to get a hit. We don’t WORK ball, we PLAY ball. WORK at practice, PLAY at the game. COMPETE!

“If we go to the plate thinking about our legs or our hands, we’re not focusing on what we need to focus on, which is hitting the pitch. For that reason, we end up missing our pitch.” Edgar Martinez

Hey man stop worrying about how you feel! The game doesn’t care how you feel. Over time, the game will reward those who do what they should the most, with no concern to how they feel. Behave how you should, NOT how you feel. You will feel good soon enough.

“Hey (insert name of any HS student) I really admire your work ethic!“ would be just about the best thing a HS student could hear from their teacher or coach. You are the CEO of YOU. Give me something real to put into that letter of rec!

I'm obsessed with this video of Willson Contreras reminding rookie Christopher Morel to breathe in a big at-bat. Moments later, Morel drove in the winning run with a walk-off sac fly.

Vin Scully filled the silence with breathtaking stories and the highlights with silence. After Kirk Gibson’s home run landed, Vin Scully didn’t talk for more than a minute

This is a baseball play. A completely legal baseball play. A play that few teams discuss and practice, and only get a handful of chances to execute it in a season. Tonight, the Cardinals successfully executed the play, and won the game because of it. x.com/JustBBMedia/st…

Running hard is not a skill,it’s a choice. It’s a habit. You run hard for your team & your teammates. It is not a stopwatch thing,it’s an effort thing. Running your best speed through the base is preferred, but running hard until you are 100% out is acceptable. Are there

exceptions? Yes but they are few & far between(Big bopper nursing a hamstring) & it takes a mature lockeroom to manage those exceptions. Running hard wins games. Running hard & smart usually pressures the defense into playing faster catch than they have trained for.

Amazing how many players have poor pre pitch ready positions. Guide for fielders: When pitchers land foot strikes ground...fielders glove hand foot should strike the ground with feet square (very important) ready to go either direction. Rhythm and the ability to go

A collection of elite athletes executing “prep-steps” with KEY similarities between Infielders (being ready to MAXIMIZE movement in all directions to increase range) and tennis players receiving a 130+ MPH serves with the same purpose. Not all do it the same, but the intent is
