A nice article with video by Universität Wien 🇦🇹 about our research in microbial biochemistry 🦠⚗️🧪with some personal touch👨🏻🔬: rudolphina.univie.ac.at/en/thomas-boet…

My personal opinion: better having high precision techniques than relying on mutation breeding (counts as non GMO) to obtain the same results just slower and with entirely unknown effects on the rest of the genome. So European Parliament say yes to #NGTs.

The Vienna Doctoral School in #Chemistry (DoSChem) of Universität Wien offers 17 fully funded #PhD positions, the call is open now until 14 April. Spread the word and apply here: ⤵ doschem.univie.ac.at/application/ (c) 📷 DoSChem #univie

I much applaude the European Research Council (ERC) for the new "lump sum" model, which in my opinion is the right move away from burreaucracy and I hope other research organizations will follow their example. Science needs freedom and trust and not restrictive nit-picky burreaucratic control.

Congratulations to Viktoriia Viktoriia Savchenko and our coworkers from the Fetzner lab for our recent paper in Cell Reports Physical Science uncovering the last major mysteries of quinolone biosynthesis in Burkholderia. Universität Wien CeMESS cell.com/cell-reports-p…

Congratulation to our alumna Sina and our collaboration partners from the Hartig and Peter Labs Universität Konstanz on our joint paper on cooperative binding of guanidines into the guanidine-II riboswitch in NAR Genomics and Bioinform. Universität Wien CeMESS academic.oup.com/nargab/article…

Our study on drug-gut microbiome interactions is out! 🦠💊 Nature Microbiology We show that the #Parkinson's drug entacapone induces iron deficiency in microbes, leading to selective inhibition of microbial activity. Check the full story here: rdcu.be/d0ZAQ

A wonderful collaboration work led by Fatima Pereira with Michael Wagner @DOME_Vienna @JMF_Vienna Rasmus Kirkegaard Biological Sciences with David Szamosvari from our lab on a Parkinson's drug affecting our gut microbiome is now published in Nature Microbiology

Our paper is now out in ACS Chem Biol! Here we discovered a new quinolone producer-Chitinivorax tropicus. I’m also very excited that our artwork was selected for the cover. I had a lot of fun creating it :) Huge thanks to our collaborators! University of Vienna STEM doi.org/10.1021/acsche…
