A 12-week paid internship allows university students approaching or in their final year of study. Lachlan is our Engineering Intern working in the TasWater Capital Delivery Office on the Bryn Estyn Water Treatment Plant upgrade. He is studying Electrical Engineering at UTAS.

TasWater offers a scholarship to support a student studying in an area relevant to the water industry. Isaac Denholm hails from Sandfly and is doing his degree in Electrical Power Engineering and Chemistry at UTAS when not hitting the gym, bushwalking and being around nature.

Hannah Goss, our 2022 Steve Balcombe Scholar, is from Prospect Vale and is one year into a Bachelor with Honours in Engineering at UTAS. “The Steve Balcombe Scholarship provides me with some funding and summer placements for the duration of my degree.

Ruby is studying for her Bachelor of Natural Environment and Wilderness Studies, majoring in Marine and Antarctic Science, at UTAS. She applied for an internship at TasWater and wanted the opportunity to use her environmental knowledge in a real-world scenario.

Jes is our 2021 Balcombe Scholar and studies a Bachelor of Science at UTAS with a Computer Science Major. The scholarship honours the inaugural Chairman of Hobart Water, Steve Balcombe, who had a notable career in both the public and private sectors in Tasmania.

Jun Ding is from China and chose to do his degree at UTAS, specialising in Mechanical Engineering. He is doing his internship in TasWater’s Data and Analytics team in the south. His hobbies include fishing, playing badminton and car design.

Based in Launceston, Neha is from Nepal and is passionate about music, books, and newly invented technologies. At UTAS she is completing her Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology, majoring with the TasWater Digital and Technology team.

Chloe is our Communications Intern in The TasWater Capital Delivery Office, within the CDO People & Culture Team. Chloe is based in the Wellington Building at Moonah and is studying her Bachelor of Arts and Business, with majors in English and Marketing, at UTAS.

Morgan is our 2020 Steve Balcombe Scholarship recipient. TasWater offers the scholarship to support a student studying in an area relevant to the water industry and honours the inaugural Chairman of Hobart Water.

As part of the TasWater Summer Intern Program, Peizhe is working in Electrical and SCADA, having moved from China for a Bachelor of IT with Honours at UTAS. Peizhe said, “TasWater has such a positive, trustworthy, and diverse work environment".

Braydon applied for a Summer Internship at TasWater because his project directly suits his interests: risk management and consulting in the finance space. Braydon said, “I will learn the ins and outs of working in the water industry.

Will decided to apply for a TasWater Internship thinking it would be an excellent opportunity to apply learnt skills and theory from his degree at UTAS.

This year’s Steve Balcombe Scholarship recipient is Launceston student Charlie Kingston. Charlie completed Year 12 at Scotch Oakburn College, achieving an outstanding 91.5 ATAR, and will now pursue engineering studies at the University of Tasmania.
