This weekend we unveiled the historical marker for Jackson’s Barber & Beauty Shop in historic Independence Heights. The shop is the 1st barbershop in HOU to receive a historic marker. It has served the community for 70 yrs as a place for organizing civic & Civil Rights efforts.

African American burial grounds are sacred spaces that hold the remains of our loved ones. Their stories, their truth is what makes our legacies so powerful. Today, a team from Univ of Houcame to help find lost gravesites. Still didn't find my 3x great grandfather's grave. Sigh..
