The situation in Gaza has gone from catastrophic to near collapse.

Children need a humanitarian ceasefire. Now.

I’ve spent a week listening to people whose lives have been shattered by Sudan’s civil war.

If Sudan’s military leaders truly care for their people they should pursue a ceasefire — now.

Meanwhile all those in need must get aid, wherever they are, without unnecessary obstacles.

I strongly condemn an incident yesterday in which an aid convoy was fired upon while traveling from northern Gaza to Rafah. 

The convoy was clearly marked and its movements were coordinated with the parties. 

Attacks on humanitarian workers are unlawful. The conflict must stop.

Since last month, the situation has deteriorated to the extend that starvation is now looming (according to WFP)

People in Gaza haven’t experienced hunger until this war. Now it is widespread & WFP warns about a looming famine. That would be nothing less than a man made famine & a stain in our common humanity. We cannot let it happen

I hope that today’s Security Council resolution may help improve the delivery of much-needed aid but a humanitarian ceasefire is the only way to begin to meet the desperate needs of people in Gaza and end their ongoing nightmare.
