We & Equity are dismayed - Seven Dials Playhouse is selling the lease of 1a Tower St, a building bought by Actors for Actors. For 2 yrs we’ve tried to collaborate to restore profitable training/community. We’ve been persistently ignored. Our home is now in serious jeopardy.

What's going on Seven Dials Playhouse ? This cannot stand.

It appears that the money from lease sale would be used to leaseback the building to the Seven Dials Playhouse, cover substantial outstanding debt & maintain their business model for the foreseeable future. A model that has removed training/actors & risks the future of Tower St.

On Seven Dials Playhouse website, there are currently only 7 eves of programmed work until Nov 20th. The 2020 promise of workshops, sessions, master classes etc has never been fulfilled. 1a Tower St is a ghost if its former self - How has this been allowed to happen? Charity Commission

There was also a studio named in honour of Catherine Hammond, loved by many at #TheActorsCentre. Seven Dials Playhouse has not only erased the training but has removed the studio names, dishonouring the artists & their families & erasing legacy. Stand with actoratthecentre Equity

I was supported to develop my 1st show in #TheTristanBates. 1aTowerSt was full of actors/creatives collaborating on projects, starting companies, scratching new work. This is not nostalgia, it’s what should be happening today. Seven Dials Playhouse has stolen opps from today’s artists
