Challenge: journos need to be able to sift between ‘social media chatter’ and proper language use as journalists. Even the coinage of “Fake News” is a Donald Trumpism, so is the “Very bad things” tag. Journalists shouldn’t aim to be Meme Kings and Meme Queens #SAInUSA

I think if they pre-produced the video and loaded it with "ready to play," he was always going to play it. He didn't need prompting. He knew it was there and chose his moment. Regardless of how the question was framed, the moment had been rehearsed.

I'm surprised you don't see the significance of the question? Trump's response is also instructive. Topic of my podcast tomorrow. It was an important question from Clement. And it's good that it came from a South African journalist. I'd love to hear your reasoning?

Love how Ziyanda N cut through the chase and addressed the elephant in the room today during the press conference between Presidents Cyril Ramaphosa 🇿🇦 and #DonaldTrump at the #WhiteHouse. Impressed by this 'gutsy girl' and the new generation of journalists.👏🏾

uMapholoba! Always ready 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 and going *very* far Ziyanda N. A beautiful example of preparedness on every level, keep it up Sisi ⭐️ #SAInUSA

I’m also calling it for that stunning yellow suit she had on: the definition of Understanding The Assignment; you know you’re dealing with He Who Doesn’t Respect Journos so, try a method that catches his attention. Your armour + PREPAREDNESS Ziyanda N did the trick👌🏾#SAInUSA

I worry about our diplomatic literacy(/ies) as a nation: there wasn’t a moment where Lamola (heck, even Tau as Trade & Industry Minister) was called on to speak by Ramaphosa. And that isn’t to say that he doesn’t speak during the closed door sessions #SAInUSA

Sana, if this isn’t giving the famous Binder of Receipts from the RHOP Reunion, especially when Trump brought out his binder after dimming the lights for that cringy video. I’m amazed that we’re truly living in a simulation, yazi: what is real these days? #SAInUSA

Does our infrastructure support this? Do we have universal internet access, across all socio-economic contexts including rural+peri-urban? Andiyilwi imbono yakho Bhuti Mteto Nyati. Also: investing in diverse industries located in rural areas would ease the economic burden on metros.

Tando Ntunja (@tandontunja) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Fair point if “digital skills” exist in isolation rather than as an interconnected, sustainable ecosystem (sustained w/comms infrastructure, ie, universal internet access) Mteto Nyati. Otherwise, you’re leading govt to train youth in digital skills they’ll export out of South Africa.

Tando Ntunja (@tandontunja) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If you’re talking Digital Nomads and the outsourced call centre phenomenon, yes, I’ve applied my mind. My advocating for universal internet access in SA & investment in rural development is about decentralising the urban-based nature of digital skills training for youth Mteto Nyati.

Tando Ntunja (@tandontunja) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Heard you loud and clear Bhuti Mteto Nyati, I was advocating for a wider approach that would solve the other major problem we’re facing as a nation: that of overwhelmed metros, because expecting metros alone to solve youth unemployment and General unemployment isn’t sustainable.

There is so much sadness in the news. 💔💔 Maybe it's time to be intentional about feel- good and entertainment stories again. That "And then..." Tanya Nefdt report at the end of a bulletin.
