Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture from 12/26 to 01/01 culminating in a communal feast called Karamu on the 6th day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West and Southeast Africa.

Kwanzaa runs from today through 1/1. It’s a time for families and communities to reflect on the past & celebrate African American culture. Kwanzaa centers on seven principles that help build & maintain unified & empowered communities. BostonPublicSchools wishes you a Happy Kwanzaa!
