0830: Incident reported at 1/4-1/2 acre near Steamboat Mountain. Tahoe National Forest's Type 1 helicopter is working its way to the incident from Truckee. A Type 2 helicopter will work to establish a landing zone and fly ground crews to the remote location.

0843: Cause of the fire has been confirmed as lightning. The Tahoe National Forest received 69 recorded lightning strikes over the past 24 hours.

1115: The fire continues to hold at approximately 1/4 to 1/2 acre. Tahoe Hotshots have gained access. Aerial resources remain committed. This will be the final update unless conditions change.
